CRAYON CRAFT

We recently had an art fair day at my kids elementary school and every class made a group art to be auctioned off.  One of the best ideas and easy too, we actually went home and did a project at home as well. 

Each child in her second grade class hot glued a crayon to the canvas board in the shape of a heart.  They all took turns with a blow dryer blowing outwards so as the crayon melts it splatters outwards.  It turned out beautiful!

She is going to hang it on her wall and was very proud to have had a part in making such a beautiful project.  We taped the crayons in a line at the top of a construction board at home and i had the kids blow dry it on our project at home.  It made line splatters all the way down the board and they were thrilled at how easy it was and it was something they could do with stuff we already had at home as an afterschool project of their own!  ( we took off the tape on the crayons after they were done and it was a perfect wax masterpiece) Easy to do, which was great because I was cooking dinner while supervising over the table and then set out newspaper over the table before they started with the blowdryer.
